I first met Lae Lae and her baby Than Zin Moe on the banks of the Moei River in the Thai/Burma border town of Mae Sot. She called me over to the small hut where her husband and child had taken shelter from the midday sun. On the back of her skull, Than Zin Moe had an enlarged fluid filled sack – three times the size of her head.
