Isam Bala returns from collecting his weekly food ration at Naung Kan Leprosy Colony in Kengtung, Burma. As a teenager, he contracted leprosy and had to leave his Lahu village near the Myanmar-China border. For about fifty years, Isam Bala and blind woman Na Law wandered the countryside. Four and a half years ago they arrived in the colony.
